Gazania Sunshine Mixed - Mr.Fothergill's Seeds

azania x hybrida

  • Large daisy like flowers
  • Range of colours
  • Good in planters and beds
  • Remove dead flowers for prolonged flowering
  • Annual

Brilliantly coloured, eye-catching daisy-like flowers that are perfect for hot, dry, sunny sites. Decorative silvery foliage compliments the dazzling blooms! Intense shades of orange, gold, yellow, russet and white as well as gorgeous bi-colours make quite a statement! Blooming slows during excessively hot & humid weather but bounces back, blooming faithfully when conditions moderate. We recommend planting in groups of six or more to emphasize contrast between flowers and foliage. At 30 cm (12") in height, these plants are great for containers or gardens - plant with other annuals that prefer similar conditions. Tender perennial treated as an annual in Zone 8 and lower.

How to Grow

Galaxy Gazania loves high temperatures and full sun. Sow seed outdoors 6 mm (1/4") deep in early to mid-May. Thin seedlings to 20 cm (10") apart when the plants are 2.5 cm (1") in height. For an earlier start to flowering, sow seed indoors in a soil-less mix 7-8 weeks before the last frost date. Germinates in 10-14 days at 21 C (70 F). Grow on under lights at a cooler temperature of 15 C (60 F) then harden off and transplant outside after the danger of frost has passed.
